The White House releases this saying, starting tonight, people who arrive at the border

without using a lawful pathway will be presumed unaligible for asylum.

The border is not open.

People who do not use available lawful pathways to enter the U.S. now face tougher consequences,

including a minimum five year ban on reentry and potential criminal prosecution.

This comes after the White House released a plan that would allow the temporary release

of migrants into the U.S. without court dates and without a means to track them.

It was a last minute tactic to try to ward off overcrowding in detention centers.
