If Iran shoots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the U.S., the United States of America, will come to their rescue.

That's Fox's Griff Jenkins. Has the protests in Iran range for a six day, and there have been seven deaths.

The people in Iran are starting to stand up and say because of their economy, right?

This is economically driven. And you had business owners, you know, people in Iran that are saying

enough. Now an Iranian official reacted to the president's threat posting on X. The demonstrations

are stoked by the U.S. and Israel. An intervention would cause chaos in the region and destruction

of American interests. Their morning, a New Year's Day disaster in Switzerland. Hundreds

gathered for a vigil.

As officials report, at least 40 people were killed and more than 100 injured.

Fox's Rebecca Castor says they're still trying to identify the victims of the fire that broke out in a Swiss bar an hour and a half into the new year.

13 helicopters and 42 ambulances rushed to the scene while party goers ran for their lives, having to run up a narrow staircase out of the basement or break windows to escape.

Now a very different New Year's Day death.

For the first time since 1999, a mountain lion is believed responsible for killing a human in Colorado.

Spokesperson for Colorado Parks and Wildlife said it happened Thursday as the woman was hiking alone

on the Crozier Mountain Trail in Larimer County.

When other hikers found the woman chased the lion away, they tried to save her, but she had no pulse.
