In the early light of dawn, the sun tiptoed through the windows of Charlie Truck’s cozy garage, casting a warm glow on his metallic exterior. The air inside was soft and still, as though the space was holding its breath in anticipation for a special day. Nestled in his spot, Charlie gradually awoke to the sound of the garage door opening. Morning sunlight spilled in, silhouetting Charlie’s driver in golden light. Charlie’s tires tingled with anticipation as the driver approached with a smile. He wondered where they were going together today.
Charlie’s driver secured some bags in Charlie’s truck bed and then hopped in the front seat. But before he turned on Charlie’s engine, he pulled a map of Ahway Island out of Charlie’s glove box. The driver unfolded the map and traced his finger over the lines and markings on the map. The driver murmured to himself, “If we go here…here…and then turn here….we can make it to the mountain top in time for lunch!”
