Welcome back to the podcast. My name is Joseph Clough and this is episode 794. Now in today's episode,

0:25.6

we're talking about comparison and the conflict around comparison. You see, most of us live as if

0:34.8

like we're keeping up with the Joneses. You're probably heard that like you've got to buy more things, you're comparing yourself to people who have things, where

0:45.0

it be physical, where it be the job, wherever it be the career, where it be the looks. It always

0:51.5

seems like we're always comparing ourselves to others. And what I want to tell you

0:56.2

today is that ultimately that is not a healthy way. And you know that it's not a healthy way. And I'm

1:03.3

not going to get into how to stop that soon. But I want you to become consciously aware of the

1:09.2

unconscious comparisons that we have toward and about

1:13.9

ourself in relation to where we are to where we want to be because that's what we're really doing

1:20.2

right we're comparing ourselves because we're not happy with where we are right now we perceive

1:26.2

that person is ahead of us. Or having that thing

1:31.7

means it will be more as a person. But in reality, even if you had that thing, even if you

1:39.1

had that career move or that job that you've been wanting, that person has or the house, the reality is more likely than not, you've been wanting that person has or the house the reality is more

1:46.7

likely than not you'll be still unhappy you would because there's always something else to get

1:54.0

right we're one of the creatures who just want more more more we're always consuming i need

2:00.2

another new phone i need more this I need to

2:03.1

eat better like even the more money you have the more that you spend is part of human nature

2:08.2

and to degree it helps us because it makes us develop like if we think we always want bigger

2:15.4

and better things so people make bigger and better things, or smaller better things, depending which one we want.

2:22.1

But ultimately, we're geared to seek out more.

2:26.8

We're geared to want more.

2:29.0

But the problem is when we compare ourselves to other people and it paralyzes us to getting what we want.
