should we set the scene where are we we we're in our garden my garden ricks and my garden which is

looking very very sad I was just complaining before you started the podcast at how terrible it looks because of the

drought we've had in England this summer.

It's not quite as bad as the picture you're painting.

Actually it's lovely, it's's very green well it's not as

green as it should be there's lots of brown bits in it some of the plants have died

if you'd seen it in May and June, it was absolutely gorgeous.

It was full of roses and bulbs and tulips and all sorts of lovely things,

and now it's just looking rather sad. We've got a few roses which have re-flowered, but nowhere

near as many as we have in the middle of the season. And we've got a lot of flowers called Japanese anemones which are very pretty and very

Strong they always come up every year at this time and add a bit of cheer to a rather dreary garden.

It's not dreary at all. Is that modesty? Is that English?

No, it's not. I'm just comparing it with it at its peak when it's looking at its best. So yes we are recording this outside
