about St. Patrick.

So we begin our story at Bonaventa Burniei,

a small town somewhere in the west of Britain,

probably along the coast.

This was probably a typical small Roman-style settlement

laid out on a grid with small Roman houses and a villa,

or villas for prominent families in the area.

Though it's doubtful that these villas would have been too impressive,

particularly when compared with those of Rome or even

of the major British cities.
