Hello Heroes and welcome to another exciting episode of One Shot.

I'm James Damato, your Game Master.

Today we're going back to our super small press collection to play Mark Diaz Truman's Our Last Best Hope.

If you've never played or heard of Our Last Best Hope,

it's a game that's modeled after films like Armageddon,

The Core, and Sunshine, where a small band of heroes has to face impossible odds to save the world.

It falls squarely into the story game genre.

Though after playing through once, I definitely saw areas where there are tense

points of strategy. When and how you use your resources in game has a dramatic effect on the

story and it's a lot of fun to play around with. I'll give you a warning in advance. on the Best Hope Core Rule Book is a quick and easy read, the layout leaves something to be desired.

The way the rules are spread out makes it difficult to spot check yourself during play.

I usually have one week to learn a system before it goes on the show.

For your average playgroup the layout isn't going to affect things.

I just recommend paying close attention to the book and making sure more than one player reads

it. Our Last Best Hope also offers fantastic online support

with several playthroughs to give you an idea of how the game works.

Once again, that's not great for spot checking, but for learning the game it's a wonderful tool.

If you're a fan of story games such as one last job, I definitely recommend you give this a try.
