Every year on the Alley on the Run show, I try to do something a little different during my favorite week of the year, the week of Valentine's Day.

Look, I am not ashamed to admit that Valentine's Day is my favorite

holiday. People will say it's a hallmark holiday and they'll be all blah, blah, blah. We should

tell people we love them every day. And yeah, that's fine. We totally should. I agree. But I am all for a day that is all about celebrating love. Why the heck not?

The way I see it and celebrate it, it's about love is love is love is love is love is love.

It's not just for couples and throuples. It is a heart-filled time to honor and acknowledge and appreciate all of the love in your life,

whether it's a long-term romantic relationship, a one-night fling, a special friendship, a colleague, or a family member.

In today's edition of Love on the Run, I am putting a family member of my own front and center.

My guest today is Jacqueline Adair, cousin Jackie. Jackie is, you guessed it, my cousin,

and she's also one of my very best friends. Jackie's five years older than me. I grew up in

New Hampshire, she grew up in Pennsylvania,

so we would only see each other a few times a year

or she was always my cool older cousin.

In adulthood, we grew closer,

thanks in part to a shared love of running,

and she has played one of the biggest roles in my life

over the past two years as I have navigated some pretty tough stuff.

Jackie always takes my calls. She always answers my texts. She has been the recipient of so

many hysterical phone calls and she has never once dismissed me or made me feel like my

feelings and experiences were anything less
