Catholic Answers the Pologist, Trent Horn. In 2003, the Episcopalian author,

Philip Jenkins, published a book called The New Anticatholicism,

The Last Acceptable Pregidus. In the book he argued that hatred towards

Catholicism is one of the few acceptable forms of bigotry left in the

modern world. Indeed, the amount of bigotry Catholics have faced since the book was

published 20 years ago as continually vindicated Jenkins thesis.

In today's episode, I want to trace the history of anticatholicism in America,

talk about where it still comes up today, and how we as Catholics should

after I got out of high school, and I was a pretty new Catholic then.

I was in a college psychology course, and I remember our professor discussing the

harm of stereotypes, and then just a few minutes later making a joke about

pedophile priests. He was saying it's bigoted to say rabbi's or greedy,

or e-moms or terrorists, but to him it was acceptable to just say

priests or pedophiles. Indeed, Jenkins calls anticatholicism

a thinking man's anti-semitism, because it's considered acceptable

and polite discourse, even though if that same prejudice were levied against
