Welcome back, everybody, to The Incomparable.

I'm your host, Jason Snell.

And you know, sometimes I have bad ideas.

And what I do with those bad ideas is I make podcasts about them.

And that's why you are here at the beginning

of a very important, well, okay, no, of a journey, a journey that will happen on this podcast.

Because I like to do themes and this theme is the summer of submarines. We are diving beneath

the service to dive into movies about submarines. Something about

the bubble. I don't understand the bubble. 20 degrees down. We already did hunt for Red

October folks. You can listen to that at your leisure. But we're following it up with more

submarine movies right now, beginning

with, uh, dovetailing with another theme of things we're doing this year, which is movies

from 1995, uh, because it's, it's been 30 years since all of those movies.

I shh, you.

But this is not a cyberpunk movie like, you know, hackers and the net.

It is instead Crimson Tide directed by Tony Scott.

A Don Simpson, Jerry Bruckheimer production.

That was a stamp of quality of a certain era.

This is, so honestly, I decided to do summer of submarines because I wanted to watch this

movie in honor the great Gene Hackman, which sort of led me down the path of what I could

do more submarine movies too.
