Donald Trump's former strategist Steve Bannon was invited to speak at the New Yorker festival.

David Remnick, who edits the New Yorker, had promised a rigorous and combative interview,

but following a sharp backlash from New Yorker readers and with a number of planned guests like Jim

Carey threatening to pull out, Bannon's invitation was rescinded. Tom is this move

to Banan not a bit of an own goal for the so-called resistance.
