Today we're excited to welcome the Commissioner of Family Services, Sherilyn Stinson, to the podcast.

Before we jump into the questions, we wanted to introduce our guests to our listeners.

Sherilyn Clark Stinson was born in Boise, Idaho. She graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in family

science and went on to obtain a master's of social work from the University of Utah. And she

began her career working for LDS Family Services as an adoption slash birth parent and clinical

worker. In 2019, she was given the assignment of Commissioner of Family Services, and this is

exciting because she is the first female commissioner for family services. So we've been really

looking forward to this conversation. She and her husband Marshall are the parents of three children,

two of whom were actually adopted through LDS Social Services, and they currently have 13

grandchildren. They're all under the age of 15,

and I thought this was so sweet. They call her Grandma Honey. And it sounds like there's a story

behind that. Well, my daughter started calling me honey when she was in junior high school.

She and two of her friends just started calling their mom's honey, which I thought was adorable.

That's sweet. Reversal of roles.

And so she just passed it on to the grandkids.
