Ghost babies, it's holiday time and regardless of what holidays you observe, there's all

this pressure mounting over the wintertime season to be connected to family, family of

origin. And for a lot of us, family of origin is really complicated or hard or nonexistent.

And so this brings me to this week's question. And this question is from M and M says,

this past year has been wildly heartbreaking for me and I'm closing it out estranged

from my mother and my older sister. Since childhood, my family has been abusive in every way

a family can be. It was very hard growing up in that household and I would say that I don't

remember much of it all due to disassociation. I've tried my best to hold a bridge up for

my family to forgive and forget to try to move on and heal. My mother in particular seems

to see no wrong interactions playing the martyr, which I've often quietly swallowed.

Since the summer, my mother and older sister have decided to quote punish me by ignoring

me and cutting me off from access to them. This behavior isn't new and it hurts so much,
