Summary

In these episodes of Mormon Stories, John and Margi interview 3 of the hard-working moderators of the “A Thoughtful Faith” Facebook group.  The group comprises LDS members who are working to stay engaged in constructive ways within Mormonism and offers a safe space to ask faith-challenging questions.

Mark Crego, Jeralee Renshaw, and Dan Wotherspoon answer questions about the purpose of the group, but also embark on a very interesting conversation about how they each are able to remain happily involved in the Church despite being aware of the faith-challenging aspects of the Mormon faith.

What would you guys say if someone was critical of the church in saying,

a thoughtful faith shouldn't be needed. The church should be looking after its

own and so and maybe a less adversarial way to ask this question is just why

why is ATF needed and if you have thoughts on why the church isn't able to

then we'll go from there. So my thought is it's needed because and I mentioned

this earlier when I talked about my son because we generally it's the rare

ward where you can show up and raise your hand and talk about the difficulties

someday the church will advance there is some effort of transparency with the

essays and things. Maybe we will get to a point where we can have open

discussions. I know of a ward that I was in a couple years ago where some friends

who were teaching gospel doctrine taught a lesson on the essays. They showed
