You're listening to sound opinions and later in the show we're going to hear from

singer-songwriter Caroline Rose about the song that got her interested in

becoming a musician. But first it's time for another round of buried treasures.

We love to do these shows periodically, Jim, because we get to dig deep into our collections

0:17.8

of recent music that we love, but haven't had a chance to get to on the show as yet, mainly because they're not huge mainstream releases,

0:25.3

but each of us love these particular records.

1:48.2

in this wonderful, strange, sometimes very troubled land. They are drawing on the history of Russian folk music and the

1:58.7

music you hear in the Orthodox Church. It is just beyond strange and on top of all that great.

2:05.8

If I can add one more rock critic e name drop here there's kind of a post-punk

minimalism at times which is almost like the raincoats or the slits.
