Our hunting trip didn't go well by Sarah Jane.

I remember it like yesterday.

Even though it's been almost a year, my friends and I had planned a hunting trip for Turkey deep in the woods of Northern Michigan.

We had gone on many hunts before, but this one, this one was different.

Something was off in the moment we arrived at the campsite.

We set up camp and started our hunt early the following day.

We were deep in the woods and it was eerily quiet.

We could hear each other's breath in the crunching of the leaves beneath our feet.

I was leading the way when I saw something move in the distance.

It was a turkey and I signaled to my friends to follow me quietly.

We were stalking the turkey for quite some time when we finally came across what looked to be a clearing.

Turkey was out there and we were finally close enough to take a shot.

I raised my shotgun and named, but the turkey moved as I pulled the trigger and missed.
