Okay, hey everybody. How are you? Welcome to The Other People Show. I'm Brad Listy. I'm in Los Angeles. I hope you are doing well wherever you are. I have on the program today, Janice Lee. She has a new novel out called Imagine a Death. It's available from Texas Review Press.

And it is certainly one of the more daring books I've read this year.

At the sentence level, Janice Lee does things that are not often done these days.

The sentences in Imagine a Death are pointedly long.

They take you places.

A lot can happen in a single line.

This book takes place in an end times environment, somewhere in what feels like the not too distant

future. And it tracks the lives of three characters, seemingly disparate, but ultimately

intimately connected. They are a writer, a photographer,

and an old man. And this book, Imagine a Death, is about how these people's lives

have been impacted by loss, by abuse, by trauma.

And it's about how their pasts

are related to their present lives.

And it's about how their present lives seem to be dwindling

in a time when time is running out.
