| 1:04.4 | So today we're going to talk about PFAS. |
| 1:06.9 | Before we talk about PFAS, I want to know what PFAS is. |
| 1:10.4 | I know it's been talked about as forever chemicals, but what more can you tell me? |
| 1:14.7 | Well, PFS stands for per and peri-fural alcohol substances, which is a long phrase for a group of chemicals that are characterized by a bond between carbon atoms and fluoride atoms. |
| 1:29.3 | And it's that bond that's really very strong that makes these chemicals last a long time in the environment and a long time in the human body. |
| 1:39.3 | So these are man-made chemicals? |
| 1:41.3 | None of these occur naturally. That's correct. |
| 1:44.4 | These are all man-made. |
| 1:45.8 | And their pervasiveness, as you write in a recent report, is alarming. |
