I don't know about where you live, but here in New York, it's really wild how Labor Day came and immediately started to feel like fall.

Like I even had to close the windows to go to sleep last night.

Anyway, it made us want to bring back an episode from last year around this time, which got us excited for the fall.

Hey, you know, I was going into my freezer the other day for some ice cream and I was

attacked by this ball of pizza dough.

It was like rolled out onto the ground.

And I laughed because it didn't get me.

Nice try, sucker.

But also because I realized that this $2 ball of pizza dough has been stashed in my freezer for like

a hundred days because it has been so gnarly hot this whole summer that I was like, there's just no way I'm

going to make pizza in these four walls. I'm going to risk my toes by stashing this ball of dough in the

freezer instead. Anyway, hopefully those days are behind us for another year and I'm going to fire up

the stove and oven again. I thought there's no one I'd rather talk to about gearing up for fall cooking than Faraday

sat again.

She is the executive culinary director at Vice Media, and we actually first met years ago

when she ran the test kitchen at Severn Magazine when we were judging a hot dog contest together. Don't ask. Anyway, I love

watching her videos on Vice, and I love her take on food, and here we are. Hey, Faraday, how are you?

I'm good. How are you, Frances? Great. I am, you know, I'm so psyched for fall.

Me too. So I feel like I can ask this of people who like really love cooking because it's not really defined by the calendar, right? And it's like, I think we all like different moments that really tell us when we're in the season we're in. Like at some point, there's something that like snaps your brain into focus. You're like, okay, now it's fall.
