Hi this is Steve. On December 18th, 2015, Disney released the first Star Wars movie in 10 years.

And for many of us, it was the first real Star Wars movie in 32 years.

The Force Awakens revitalized our love

for the Star Wars universe

and introduced a whole new generation

to the ways of the force.

This Thursday, in theaters across the country, the saga will continue. of the the opening night of every Star Wars movie since I stood in line for the Empire Strikes

back at the Cordillera Cinema on May 21st 1980.

Star Wars, yes it was just called Star Wars back then, was probably the most important cinematic event

of my childhood, and everyone I knew couldn't wait to see how George Lucas would continue

the story.

Movie franchises are the norm today, but back then sequels usually meant something cheap and exploitive, always failing to live up to the far more successful original.

But this wasn't just any sequel. This was the Empire Strikes Back.

The original Star Wars might be one of the most successful movies of all time,

but the foundation of the franchise, in my opinion, is built on Empire.

One of our favorite guests Michael Vogel joined us for our deep dive into a new hope,

so we thought it was only fitting to invite Michael back to explore the sequel.
