Hey, everybody. I got a great one today, you know, for a change, but this time I mean it.

Look, I'll be frank with you. This podcast is inconsistent at best. But today, you're finally

going to get something out of listening. I swear. Two guests today.

I do that a lot. Almost never works out. But this time, I have a gem. Two great guests, Ryan Bussie,

who has been on before, and you know that if I have a guest more than once, it's because they

were nowhere near as bad as my normal guess.

Ryan was a prominent member of the gun industry and of the NRA, but he broke with them in 2013

after the NRA scored the background checkpiece of the gun control legislation.

We were trying to pass and failed to pass in the Senate in the wake of Sandy Hook.

My other guest is Nicole Hockley.

Her son, Dylan, was one of 19 first graders murdered by a very disturbed young man with an assault weapon at Sandy Hook Elementary.

And she and a number of other Sandy Hook parents formed a group Sandy Hook Promise.

Sandy Hook Promise has been around for almost 10 years now.

And what Nicole and the others have done with their

grief and trauma is so admirable. Of course, they lobby for gun control legislation,

and Nicole was successful in making progress after Uvaldi with the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

But a very large and significant role that Sandy Hook promise plays is in preventing school

violence.

And they have been successful in preventing school shootings and preventing suicides.

As you'll hear Nicole say, it is a promise that she has kept to her son,

that she will do everything she can to prevent this from happening to other kids

and other families.
