This story will need some context so people understand I was born hearing impaired so I have

hearing aids.

This story takes place in 2016 during the summer.

My family had moved to Tennessee in 2010 from Maine and my mom married a man who loved

hiking and camping so he made it a thing for us to be visiting West Virginia and Virginia

on the Appalachian Trail very often.

We started doing this sometime in 2012 and have done it each year since.

My sister and I loved the outdoors so this didn't bother us until 2016.
