Malachai chapter 2 verse 15.

God is talking here about marriage and he says,

that he not make them one with a portion of the spirit in their union?

And what was the one God seeking?

Godly offspring?

So guard yourselves in your spirit and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.

This is a powerful verse that describes the beautiful union God is designed for a husband and a wife to share, but not just the two of them.

This is a three way relationship here. Did he not make them one, a

husband and wife one? That's the language we see from the very beginning of scripture,

Genesis 2, Man should leave his father and mother,

and unite with his wife,

and they shall become one flesh,

does he not make them one with a portion of the spirit,

capital S spirit in their union.

So the whole picture here is a three-way relationship between a husband and a wife before God with his spirit blessing this union.

So a husband accountable to God for the way he loves his wife, a wife accountable to God for the way the way he loves his wife, a wife, accountable to God for the way she loves her husband,

God promising to help them maintain and cultivate and nourish this union and the problem here that is being addressed is a lack of faithfulness to God and to a spouse

So the whole picture here when the Bible says guard yourselves in your

spirit and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. Obviously the positive

of that is be faithful to the wife of your youth.
