Summary

Today's episode features Andy Mort of the Gentle Rebel podcast (formerly known as the Sheep Dressed like Wolves podcast).

We talk about what it's like to be a Highly Sensitive Person and a podcaster. (He interviewed me on his show recently, too: listen here!)

Some of the topics covered in this episode include: receiving negative feedback, making money, and tips for people who want to start their own show.

You can get in touch with Andy on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and find his music here.

Looking for a Community for HSPs? Join The Haven!

As mentioned in this episode, Andy's HSP community, The Haven, is open for registration from Nov. 4-10, 2016.

The Haven is a private membership site completely dedicated to HSPs. There's two years of great content available--like high-quality videos, interviews, collaborative projects, and blog posts--which have been created specifically to help support, encourage, and inspire HSPs in a range of areas, and Andy's always coming out with new content, too.

My favorite part might be the safe and supportive Facebook community that's exclusive to members.

There is no obligation or commitment. It's just $1 to try it out for the first month and you can cancel anytime, so there's really no reason not to give it a try and see if it's for you!

Welcome to the HSP podcast. I'm your host, Kelly. Today my guest is Andy Mort, the podcaster behind the Gentle Rebel podcast and his blog, Andy Mort.com. I was on his show recently where we just chatted about what it's like to be an HSP and a podcaster and everything that goes along with that and thought it would be great

to have him on my show as well. Even if you aren't a podcaster, I hope you might find this

interesting or insightful. Andy, thanks so much for taking the time to be on my show today. It's great

to talk to you again. Hello, Kelly. Yeah, it's fantastic to be with you. Thank you for inviting me back on. Thrill to have you here. I've been a fan of your blog and your podcast for such a long time.

0:58.5

We've emailed several times and it was funny when I was on your show. It was the first time we'd ever actually spoken.

1:05.1

You know, it's still via Skype. But I felt like I kind of already knew you a little bit and almost like we were friends already.

1:10.7

So I think that's sort of a HS bit and almost like we were friends already.

1:16.5

So I think that's sort of a HSP thing, that kindred spirit feeling when we meet other HSPs.

1:17.7

Yeah, absolutely.

1:21.4

I think we both had that thing of finishing the conversation and then being like,

1:24.3

that's the first time we've actually spoken to one other, isn't it?

1:24.5

Yeah. Yeah, so that's such a nice thing about being highly sensitive, I think.

1:28.4

So first, I wanted to ask you to give a little bit of background in history on your blog and your podcast.

1:34.9

When did your podcast start?

1:36.4

And why did you decide to start a podcast?

1:39.5

Well, my podcast started in, well, in one form or another, in I think it was 2010, when I was

1:49.1

more focused on promoting independent music of all things. So I was just sort of playing

1:55.4

local bands under the radar sort of artists and songwriters and people. And then I began to kind of

2:02.6

talk a little bit in between songs and then started my blog and started exploring certain

2:09.6

themes, just stuff that I was thinking about more than anything. And then over the years,
