Summary

We kick off this month's podcast live on the bank as Mark attempts to catch a carp off the top, live for the podcast, while I do my best to help you all understand events with some running commentary. As we multi-task we touch on Mark's stalking tactics, bait and tackle as he has some crafty little edges up his sleeve. We've also got a great interview with Lewis Porter from Fox. Now Lewis has worked in the trade all his working life, his drive and passion for the industry has helped him tackle and progress into many roles over the years from magazine editing through to Senior Marketing positions at one of the biggest angling brands in the market. Lewis gives an honest account of life in the trade, touches on what carp motivate him before offering his first hand account of catching one of the best carp this country has ever produced, the caravan park linear. We thoroughly enjoyed recording this one, we hope you enjoy over 4 hours of carpy chat!

Well welcome to the cart fishing podcast episode 71 and a slightly different start to the podcast

0:19.8

because normally me and Mark are sat down just about to kick off with what's been going on in the world but I'm sat down and I'm more of a spectator because Mr Brian is getting his floater kit ready

0:32.6

well we thought we do something a little bit different today don't we've come down to the lake and there's a few fish about and i think there's a really good chance of a bite so we've wiped ourselves

0:43.5

both up and i'm busy trying to set about setting up a floater rod at the moment to see as i'm doing

0:49.6

the podcast you can catch one wouldn't be nice yeah and uh and uh for anyone obviously you haven't got this isn't

0:55.9

filmed so they're not going to see what you're doing but you I've always thought that you're a very

1:01.2

good float angler if the fish are here now I wouldn't say it's not a dead sir these fish aren't

1:05.6

a push over there's a few milling around they might be in sunbathing mode only yeah but you um yeah talk me through how

1:13.5

you're going to approach this because uh you you do it slightly different i think to most um yeah it's

1:19.7

really simple really in essence like the fish are coming through relatively close range so i'm

1:25.2

fishing a single hook bait and i find that far better than putting on

1:29.3

controllers and uh so free lining so free line essentially it's really really simple but it means that

1:35.1

you can flick with the right tackle and it's all about getting the right tackle the right balance

1:39.1

thin line like 10 pound 10 pound line and small hook and a and decent size bait on there say it's like a 15

1:48.0

miller um you can flick that quite away and i find that far better than i say casting controllers

1:54.4

because particularly of fish that have been fished for on the top once you flick a controller out

2:00.1

it's even the wake of the controller coming back.

2:02.7

Oh, there we go.

2:03.7

Oh, that's not me of a take.

2:05.5

That's me just putting some line off.

2:06.9

I'll straighten in your line for you because it's a little bit, a little bit kinky.

2:09.9

Well, I don't mind.
