The race is on and the Mercedes dominance was shattered by that man Max Vastappen, who claimed a stunning victory for Red Bull.

Meanwhile, just as at Silverstone last year, Valtteri Bottas was left scratching his head over strategy

after turning pole position into P3 behind teammate Louis Hamilton.

I'm Ed Straw and joining me to look back on F1's terribly named 70th anniversary Grand Prix

and Mark Hughes and Scott Mitchell.

Mark, are you in the anniversary spirit?

Do you think that was a fitting landmark for F1?

I think it was quite funny that it was the 70th birthday

of formula one effectively of the formula one world championship and um it ended up as a fight didn't

it on a you know all the racing point stuff the sort of fight broke out at a 70th birthday party

that's quite funny in it in itself i think but, yeah, I mean, it was an entertaining race.

It was a good weekend at racing, I think.

And, yeah, there was lots to talk about the one-step softer tires,

certainly in combination with the increased pressures

and the very hot track temperature,

certainly produced a few curveballs and that was

behind, I think, the upset we saw in the race result.

Yeah, that's what we like to see, a bit of an upset and some kerbbles.

Did you get your telescope out and managed to see Silverstone this time around or not?

We're not going to go into that again. I felt I was abused enough the last time we went down that path.
