We were fighting into a place called Zumbullay and we'd been ambushed on three sides and there was no way out.

And we got caught in the worst place, I was lying on this track up against the bank and there was just no cover and the rounds were like flying all around us.

And I remember lying on this bank with nowhere to go

and I just accepted it

any minute

one of these bullets

is coming through me

there's actually nothing I can do about that

so I accept my position now

when you accept that

you can then think more clearly.

I had to get up and I had to move and had to take the fight forward.
