Welcome to episode 7 you guys. Today we are chatting about simplicity. now I'm excited about this one because I actually want to hear what John Mark would say the definition for simplicity is why this matters

Why this is a practice we should be cultivating I love the part in your book on this so I think I

kind of incorporate in this definition part is is simplicity minimalism is it similar is that related is that are we talking about

possessions only is there a simplicity of heart is there a simplicity of mind what's

kind of this this this the core of what you think simplicity is and why it's important?

Yeah, so again, all practices, spiritual disciplines, formations, whatever you call them are based on the life and teachings of Jesus and are an attempt to follow Jesus, to copy the details of his day-to-day life,

which is what it means to follow Jesus. So when you look at Jesus life, he had just a really high degree of focus,

intentionality, like you don't read about Jesus' hobbies, nothing wrong with

hobbies, you don't read about him like, I'm really into kayaking and this, and mountain biking, and surfboard

shaping, and crochet and racquetball, and like, you know, you don't read about him running side hustles, you don't read about him running side hustles.

You don't read about him like picking out, you know,

from 19 different suits each morning,

which one should he wear?

And again, some of that's an argument from silence, but the image that comes to us of Jesus through the four Gospels is of a soul living deliberate on purpose, unhurried, present to the moment,
