You know me, right? I'm always tweaking my schedule trying to find the best balance of creativity and productivity.

My latest approach, as of this summer, is starting my day an hour earlier.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed me joking about how sleep is my favorite hobby but summer is the perfect

time to try this experiment since the early sunshine makes it so much easier to

wake up naturally so I get up an hour earlier drink a power smoothie while doing my daily mile walk,

then shower, get dressed, brew coffee, and get down to writing.

I started doing my writing first thing in the day all the way back to last year and I love it. But I love it even

a little earlier. It gets my day off to an awesome start. The second big change I made this year

was to move email checking another daily platform related

chores to the very last thing in the day, the last three or so hours of the workday.

That gives me more undistracted time in the middle of the day to focus on other projects.

So it's been a little change of pace and has really helped me fight the general distractions of what I call internet brain.

I wish I tried it a long time ago.
