Hello everyone and welcome to Usual Disclamer with Eleanor Neal, a true crime podcast where we crack open some of the most notorious cases in history.

for some resources and further information. Today we're going to be talking about the case of Sophie Hook and this actually took place in Wales

and so I just want to start right now by apologising for the way that I might pronounce Welsh place names.

But yeah I'm just going to get straight into it. I just want to give my usual disclaimer that I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone that I talk about

in this video. This is all just information that I have found on the internet and I'm compiling

into one video. So Sophie Louise Hook was a seven-year-old girl born on May 27th, 1988,

in Cheshire in England. In late July of 1995, Sophie had only just turned seven years old, and her and her family were travelling to Wales for a little while to go and see some relatives who lived over there.

They stayed at Sophie's uncle's house in Landudnur in North Wales because it was her cousin's birthday and so they were all just going to have a bit of a party and celebrate over there.

On July 29th, 1995, it was a particularly warm, sunny day and so Sophie and the rest of the kids in the family were all playing outside in the paddling pool in just their underwear.

So that night, all four children were planning on sleeping outside in a tent in the garden, just for fun as you do when your kids you do weird things like

that. So then it got to the actual night and they set up the tent. They took everything inside the

tent and then at about 20 past midnight one of the children decided to go back inside. They didn't

want to sleep in the tent anymore. So that left just three of them including Sophie. Sophie's uncle

went out to check on the children before he went to bed at about 12.40 a.m.

and then he went back inside and left the back door open and unlocked and everything

just in case like they needed the toilet, they wanted to come inside.

Anyway, they all went to bed and then at 2.30 in the morning, Sophie's cousin, who she was
