In a recent op-ed, Thomas Friedman floated the idea of Biden's putting Liz Cheney on

the ticket with him in 2024.

Yes, Democrats, let's take the advice of serially wrong pundits like Friedman and David Brooks,

or inexplicably employed hacks like Hugh Hewitt and Mark Tieson.

Let's fire Kamala Harris, who has, as far as I can tell, made one massive mistake as

Vice President. She's gotten widely unfair media coverage.

And let's replace the potential future president and generally progressive Democrat, you know,

the kind who believes in voting rights for all Americans, or women's right to choose,

and combating climate change, with a Republican so far to the right, she claims Dick Cheney,

who occupies the same place on the political spectrum as Genghis Khan as her political hero.

It's been the trend for some time that prominent voices on the right feel they have the authority

to tell Democrats who'd enominate and elect.

This is particularly the case after the Republican Party loses the White House.

But there's something particularly galling about it in this instance.

People like the aforementioned Friedman are as responsible for the rise of politicians

like Donald Trump and the party's dissent into authoritarianism as anyone else.

And Republicans win, they want to strip Democrats of all power and all rights.

When they lose, they feel entitled to a consolation prize, like requiring approval over the

candidate's Democrats choose, it's fucking absurd.

In the 2016 presidential election, the Democratic candidate won by almost 3 million votes.

In 2020, the margin was almost 8 million votes.

That's a mandate.
