I am your rabbi, Rabbi Daniel Lappen, claiming that the more that things change, the more

we need to depend on those things, that never change.

And while fashions in clothing change and fashions in gardens change, you know, you take a look at the kind of garden that somebody builds for themselves in Seattle or in Miami, and compare that with

the sort of garden people make in Phoenix, Arizona, or Las Vegas, Nevada. These are not things

that change. People adapt to circumstances, times, and geography. But two things that change are sex and money. Look, I meet an awful lot of people. It's one of the great joys of my life. People come up to me at the many speeches. I do about 30, 35 speeches a year around the country. Many of them at churches, some of them at synagogues, and people come up to me afterwards, and I always had questions. And one of the questions I ask is, could you tell me, please, your three biggest mistakes you've made in life. And people look a little puzzled. And I I say I just want to know the category like in

where are the biggest mistakes that you've made and I don't think I have to tell you that

almost nobody says well rabbi Lappin the biggest mistake I made was in the area of food

it was Christmas 2005 I had strawberry jello instead of lime.

Yeah, nobody says that.

Nobody has yet said to me, well, Rabbi, I'm embarrassed about it, but since you asked,

the biggest mistake I ever made was in gardening.

And I really wanted to become the hero of hydrangeers. I planned on a beautiful garden of hydrangeers.

By mistake, I planted tulips. Biggest mistake I ever met. Nobody's ever said anything like that.
