Beginning with today's Cubs Braves game, and Sean joins us on the AT&T expert hotline. Mr. Casey, hello, sir. What's up, guys? How are we doing? Good. And we really appreciate you coming on with us. Yeah, no problem. Appreciate you having me. All right, what did you make of the Yankees deal yesterday that they got Frazier Robertson? What did you think of it? Canely. I thought they were going to Boston.

0:54.4

Yeah, so did everyone in Boston. When Frazier got pulled from the game, I was like, oh, man, it looks like Dombrowski made another move, and then you know they're Yankees. I mean, I think they got better. I mean, listen, Todd Frazier right now, I think, you know, he's a power threat. I don't, you know, he's obviously struggling in the average department, but he's a guy with the ones looking at the back and can

0:58.3

help you, you know, win a ball game, no doubt about that. They got better in the pen with Robertson, who they already had for, you know, used to be their closure. So, you know, there's no doubt the Yankees upgraded and, you know, they're better.

1:09.4

Now, their bullpen looks insane now, the Yankees, and if you've judged by the current success of, or the past success of Cleveland and the Royals and the playoffs, is that the most important thing now to make a long run in the playoffs is the depth of your bullpen? It sure seems like, doesn't it? I mean, Kansas City making the run they did a couple years ago with that, you know, three-head monster they had, and Herrera, Davis, and Holland, and then, you know, last year, you know, you go back and look what Andrew Miller did, you know, filling that gap with, and then you had, you know, Shaw and Allen, I believe, in the, you know, as that making their run, and then Chapman with the Cubs.

1:46.4

And then, yeah, so I think you need a strong bullpen in the back end, and it looks like the

1:51.8

Yankees, you know, with Robertson, Batances, and Chapman, you know, that's a pretty formidable

three. So they definitely got better there, too.

1:59.8

Sean, conversely, the Red Sox have a lot of bullpen problems, and they still have a gigantic hole over third base that Frazier would have filled. And now because the Yankees got those guys and the Red Sox didn't, it seems like Dombrowski has to respond in some way. He will. If I know Dave, you know, I mean, Dave's the one guy.

2:18.7

He's not going to just sit back and, you know, just let things happen. He's going to, he'll make one. He'll make a move. There's no doubt about it in some capacity, you know, whether it's, you know, Jed Lowry or Escobar out there, maybe David Freeze, you know, there's those guys out there. you know what is that

2:32.8

Raphael Divers too

2:34.0

and AAA is pretty good

2:36.4

I mean who knows what

2:37.2

you know, there's those guys out there. You know, what is that, Rafael Devers, too, and AAA's pretty good. I mean, who knows what, you know, what Dave has in mind. But, you know, Dave Dombrowski is the one guy. Probably won't sit back. He'll make a move at some point. All right. Sandoval obviously was a disaster for the Red Sox. Do you see a scenario where he gets a job in the major leagues again?

2:53.2

Yeah, he'll get a job in the major leagues again, you know, as long as Boston takes on the contract.

2:58.0

You know, I think, you know, Pablo Sandoval will get another shot somewhere.

3:03.5

But, I mean, geez, you talk about a free fall.

3:05.9

You know, we talk about a guy that, you know, went from hitting three home runs, and those World Series, you know, those big games against Verlander back a few years ago, and now all of a sudden he's getting released after signing a big deal. So I'm sure he'll get another shot somewhere, but I'm sure Boston will eat that contract. All right, do you think that some of it is the Red Sox fault? Do you think if he would have signed some more else, the story could have been different? Pablo Sandoval. Yeah, like, because you, it's so weird the way he fell off, and it's so weird the way he lost control. Do you think that would have happened anywhere he went? You know what? I think he probably should have gone back to San Franan you know he seems like a guy that was comfortable there and just uh you know it's not hey listen boston if you're not ready for boston you know new york as big margsoe he up i mean that's the bottom line you know and sometimes if you know for pablo sandal got off to a bad start he was overweight were really not committed that first year and really just got crushed.
