All right, it is May 8th and it is a brand new episode. We'll let there be talk. Number 696. Today we have got a massive amazing guest. Somebody that means the world to me. The four strings, sometimes six string, maybe eight string. God. Mr. Jason Newssted.

And I want to tell you this right now at the beginning of the show before you kind of drift off into your ADD world. Jason has fired up his band Newssted again and they're playing one night. May 20th at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

So do whatever you got to do to get out there and see this special event 10 year anniversary of Newssted. Get a Southwest flight or spirit air or take a gray hound hitchhike. Remember hitchhiking hitchhike across America and hope the night stockered in pick you up.

Get out there and see him live. But in the meantime, I'm going to tell you this, I've done, you know, what 696 episodes and it's been 11 years and my goal is to get all of the Metallica guys not because, ooh, they're big stars or whatever, but because of what they mean to me. And the love I have for these guys, especially, you know, of course I love the Cliff Burton era.

That's an obvious no brainer. Everybody loves that. But for me, really when my world changes is the justice record and the black album and those tours and what that band did and what they went through and the hundreds of dates and the three, four years on the road playing some of the most insane metal for two, two and a half hours.

Dealing with all kinds of insanity in that era of giant rock and roll and metal, just unreal what these guys have accomplished and I've said it over and over they are my favorite band.

I will go to the grave with that and mostly the inspiration that I get from them, their work ethic and what they did, their fans, their crowd, everything, everything about it, their crew, the people that work for them, Q Prime, it's all fucking good.

And to sit down with Jason after all these years and go over some old school stories was just incredible. I want to thank Bill Burr, for giving my phone number to Jason. Don't give that number out Jason to anybody. It's private.

Oh man, I made a good mood today because I listened to this episode all last night as I was tightening it up and editing it and getting it ready for you guys and I was just blown away by how great this man is. He was the link between the mystique of Metallica and the fans that that barrier he would go over the barrier.

Shake hands, give out picks, talk, sign autographs, go the extra mile. They all do that actually but just Jason was the man and it's just great to see him still alive out there just killing it.

You know, painting, great art, making music, challenging himself still at 60 years old, not sitting around, you know, throwing up flyers, former Metallica bass player living on that. No, the guy is legit always has been the real deal.
