Summary
This year’s Thanksgiving show celebrates with some of America’s great foreign-born chefs: Ann Kim, Hugo Ortega, Miroslav Uskokovic and Maneet Chauhan.
All four chefs have their stories and recipes included in the wonderful new book, A Place at the Table: New American Recipes from the Nation's Top Foreign-Born Chefs, from the Vilcek Foundation, a group dedicated to raising awareness of immigrant contributions in American and fostering appreciation of the arts and sciences.

| 0:29.5 | Statue of Liberty, she would raise her right arm and pretend to hold a torch. So this year, |

| 0:38.3 | you know, complete with torch and crown. |
| 0:40.6 | And I took her out in the neighborhood, trick-or-treating. |
| 0:44.0 | And I couldn't believe how many people were so psyched to see the Statue of Liberty. |
| 0:50.8 | I mean, it was a great costume, and she is a very cute kid, if I say so myself. |
| 0:53.7 | But I think people were moved by it, and one person actually shouted, yes, we need a symbol |
| 1:00.5 | of freedom and democracy, which, you know, is kind of an intense thing to yell at a kid, |
| 1:05.7 | but cool, I'm with you. And I was also a little bit like, hey, you know, we live in New York. |
| 1:10.1 | You could go on your roof and see the real thing. |
| 1:11.6 | But anyway, give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. |
| 1:18.6 | You know, the spirit of welcome that this statue is supposed to beam out into the world. |
| 1:23.6 | That is what I'm thinking about this Thanksgiving. And earlier this year, I had the honor |
| 1:33.2 | of being a judge for the Vilchek Foundation, an organization that recognizes achievements |
| 1:38.7 | in science and the arts by immigrant Americans. The kind of artists they recognize changes every |
| 1:43.9 | year, and this year it was the culinary |
