There are so many diverse ways to fish a fly, but today we're going to blend some of the old with the new, some steelhead with the trout, and some fly tying so you are better equipped to fish the fly and understand how to swing flies for all species. Marty Howard, author of Steelhead Fly Tying with DeKogan and someone who

has spent time around the fly shop is going to share his swung fly journey. We're going to find out

about a new fly tying book for Trout that's coming out right around the corner. And we're going to

hear why he doesn't care if gear fishermen or sleds are going up and down the river before

he swings his fly on that run. And we're going to get a little bit of tip on staying warm this

winter. Plus, you're going to find out how he ended up fishing multiple times over the years with

Tiger Woods and his good friend Marco Mira, two famous pro golfers. We're going to get into that

Great. Great. Yeah, it's awesome to have you on here. We always love a good conversation about, you know,

kind of swing flies, spay, double-handed rods, and fly-tying. I think we might touch on all those topics today. You've got a couple great books. We've had, you know, Deck has been on, you know, a couple times now. And I guess we're going to get in that. Maybe we just start there at the top as far as the books. You've got a book, I guess a couple books out there. But what's the connection with deck, first off?

First off, because he's kind of obviously a big name out in the space. How have you, have you known him a while? Yeah. I met Dick back in the early 90s. We were visiting the Dechus River every year. We'd take a group up there from the fly shop,

and Dex started guiding for John Hazel. It would have been like 94, 95, and he was just one of the guides that was helping John take our group out, and that's when we first met was on the Deschutes River.

There you go, on the Deschutes. So, and what was the fly shop you were taking a group out with?

My family owned a fly shop.

I opened a fly shop up in mid-80s, and it was kind of a family fly shop, and it was open

for 20 years, and we closed it down after my dad died.
