Summary

Every year, five hundred and three thousand people go missing in Alaska. This is twice the US National average. Given Alaska’s population, this means four or five of every one thousand people go missing each year. Of course, many missing person cases involve tourists rather than Alaskan residents, so we should take that figure somewhat with a pinch of salt, but it’s disturbing nonetheless, especially considering a vast number of these cases remain unsolved years or decades later. Individuals and even entire aircraft disappear without a trace.

In this episode, we’ll look at why the missing person rate is believed to be so high, and then we’ll discuss some specific cases. Most of these are unsolved, so it’s essential to raise awareness.
