Summary
As Maryland's Public Defender, Natasha Dartigue's office sees 90% of criminal cases in the state. In addition to the mission of representing individuals with criminal charges, there are new efforts underway to keep young people from getting into trouble in the first place. | 1:09.9 | public defender does. So the Office of the Public Defender does. |
| 1:11.7 | So the Office of the Public Defender is charged with defending indigent individuals when they are facing criminal charges. |
| 1:22.9 | We represent individuals throughout the state of Maryland. |
| 1:26.6 | So in all 23 jurisdictions and Baltimore |
| 1:29.5 | City. To do so, I have 52 offices throughout the state. So we represent everyone from the beaches |
| 1:37.2 | to the shores and everywhere in between. Throughout those offices, I also have 11 specialty |
| 1:43.6 | divisions, which includes juvenile justice, |
| 1:49.1 | forensics, social work, decarceration initiative, just to name a few. |
