Welcome back to the Lincoln Project. I'm your host, Reed Gaelin. Today, I'm joined by Maya

0:13.9

May, comedian and host of LPTVs We're Speaking, which is back for a brand new season this

0:19.6

week. Maya, welcome to the show. Thanks for having me back, Reed. Absolutely, and everybody

0:24.4

just remember that if you can't catch any of our LPTV shows live, you can always find

0:28.8

them on our YouTube channel. I hope you'll tune in. So Maya, we did this a couple of months

0:33.6

1:22.3

our side when it comes to this. Only three times in the last 120 or so years has a president

1:29.2

in their first term. Has that president's party picked up seats? The last time was 2002

1:34.7

with George W. Bush. That was, remember, though, about a year after 9-11. So Republicans

1:41.0

and Stuart and Rick were involved in that campaign talked about national security that

1:46.1

this was a matter of making sure that, you know, the American people were safe. And so

1:50.1

Maya, I think not unlike what Republicans did then, we will need to nationalize this

1:56.4

election, frankly, against a threat. And that threat is the Republican party and what
