Hello Albert Einstein here. Today I've popped into Dev's cafe. He's one of many business owners

who are already using a smart meter to feel more in control of their budgeting. A smart meter helps

you track your energy use and costs over time. So you know how much you're spending on your energy

bills. Meaning less time guessing and more time to focus on the other important... Do you want milk

First things first. At the time of this experience I was 24 years old, living with my then fiance

now husband who will call B and my four year old daughter who will call S. B work nights

six days a week. We live in a notoriously bad neighborhood but up until this one week my naive

self figured if I'm out in my own business I would be impervious to bad things happening, right?

Right. Before we get to that night, the night of the main event there are three seemingly

insignificant events that happen in the week leading up to that night. For you to get the full

picture I'll go over those first. Event one. Sunday around 2 a.m. my four year old comes down

stairs into the living room where my husband and I were watching TV on his day off. I hop up and

start to direct her back to bed when she says there is a man in our backyard. Is he a friend?

I turn to look wide eyed at B who without further prompting goes upstairs and looks out her window.

Due to the bright back porch lights my daughter's window actually does have the best view of the

backyard. After several minutes he comes down with a shrug. I don't see anyone and nothing's been

moved so I chalk it up to a bad dream and take S back to bed. Event number two. Tuesday. I have two

cats because I have two cats I do not open my screens to my windows they are strictly inside cats.

On this night it was pouring out no thunder lightning but pouring. My neighbor calls me and says

is your cat supposed to be outside he's on the porch. I reply no thank you for calling I'm letting

...
