Welcome to the Alisa Childers Podcast. I'm your host, Alisa Childers. We're continuing our discussion from last week about homosexuality, specifically talking about the Reformation Project today. What is it? What do they claim and how can we answer? We'll talk with Alan Schleiman in just a moment.

I'm really excited to bring you this discussion because it's very rich in biblical truth. It's very rich in information. I think and I pray and I hope that you'll find it really helpful.

Before we jump in with Alan Schleiman, though, I want to tell you about a couple of really neat things we have going on with the ministry. We have launched officially our Patreon page. My guest today is Alan Schleeman. He's back for the second part of our two-part series on Christianity and homosexuality. Same-sex relationships, gay marriage. We're talking about it all today.

Alan is dedicated his life to talking about some of the most controversial issues of our time. If you haven't listened to part one, I recommend you go back and listen to that. Although you could listen to this one without having the foundation of the first, but in the first episode we talked about the question, can Christians agree to disagree about same-sex relationships?

Is this something that we should divide over? If you're interested in that question, go give that a listen. Today we're going to talk about the biblical case that is often put forward in favor of same-sex marriage and same-sex relationships.

There is a very organized movement with biblical points and everything that I'm sure if you're on social media, you've seen some of these things come across your Facebook news feed or you've seen it on Twitter.

We're going to just answer some of these points that are brought forth particularly by an organization called the Reformation Project.

Alan, I'm just going to bring you right in on this. Tell us what the Reformation Project is. Then I want to hear about when you went to their conference and what was your experience like there? What did you learn?

The Reformation Project is an organization started by Matthew Vines, a young gentleman who identifies himself as gay and Christian and does not think there's any contradiction with regards to that idea.

The mission of the Reformation Project is to reform church teaching. It's to look at the biblical text, to look at the theology and to reform that teaching and to demonstrate that the Bible and Christianity can be understood in a gay affirming way.

I would suggest that they've chosen the term of the Reformation Project specifically because they see their efforts in line with the noble reform efforts of Martin Luther.

They believe that their Reformation will be just as significant as that of Luther's.
