Answers Apologist and Speaker, Trent Horn. And today I'm going to look at a recent

episode of the show last week tonight with alleged comedian John Oliver. His special was on

transgender issues with an emphasis on issues involving children like co-ed sports and

banning so-called gender affirming surgery for minors. So three things before we continue.

First, I'm not going to talk about theological issues in this rebuttal because Oliver never

brings any of that up. But I'm hoping to do an episode on Catholic theology and transgender

issues in the future. For now, I cover some of that in my book, Made This Way, co-authored

with my friend, Leyla Miller. So check that out if you want my thoughts on what the church

teaches on transgender issues. Second, I'm not going to cover everything in Oliver's

original video. I've edited it out some of the jokes and other tangents that aren't

relevant to the central arguments that he's making. Finally, in preparing this episode,

I watched other responses from Matt Walsh, Michael Noles, Stephen Crowder. And I hope what I say

in this video will be a helpful compliment to their rebuttals. Now, with that said, let's

take a look at John Oliver on so-called trans rights.

We're going to talk about transgender rights. Now, we actually first talked about this seven

years ago. And the good news is that since then, more people do seem comfortable coming out as trans

and gender nonconforming, which is great. But as you've undoubtedly noticed in the past few

years, someone on the right have truly lost their minds about trans rights.

But this isn't just a conservative issue. Lots of liberal feminists are outraged by transgender

ideology because it reinforces regressive stereotypes about women. And it would undo the work

...
