I'm envious, as you know. I mean, I don't know. You're probably not loving the situation that your hair is at, but I'll trade you anytime you want. Maybe trade you, man. You spend a weekend playing banjo in the woods. I feel like that is also great. I've been playing a lot of music lately. Really pretty cool. You know, there's just a friend of mine fiddle player in town

because i to me it's just like this nice guy and i play fiddled with on wednesday nights but at these

things he's like famous you know because he's oh really just so so ultra talented dude you know

oh that's great.

So other really good players kind of seek him out, and I get to watch him in his element. It's been really cool that way. Well, I'm just like, hey, guys, can I get you another beer? Does he play fiddle with you often, then? Or is that? Every once tonight? So, like, he's in your crew. He's in your little group. Well, the crew kind of revolves around him.

Did you, when you were like, forced my way in. Cities to Live, Bend, Oregon, old time music group. Did you, was that in your search? A little bit, Dave, it was. Yeah. Wow. You have organized your life around your hobby in some ways. A little bit. But I wouldn't, I don't think it would have been an influencing thing. But I was very happy to have, when I did, I just had Bend, Oregon old time music, a website came up called Bend Old Time Jam. And I was like, oh, thank God, there's some old time here. That's great, you know, which I was never able to really find when I was living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is before that. Yeah, and it came up and a woman named Amy runs it and still does. It's a little less regular than it was, but, you know, then I, then I

started going to that jam, but there's like a way you can take things like that seriously

that people can tell, you know, like, if you started going to the Austin JavaScript meetup,

and you were like really involved, and you offered to talk, and you offered to help organize

things, and you brought the cupcakes, and you, you know, like, if you offered to help organize things and you brought

the cupcakes and you you know like if if you don't just show up but you show up with bells on

stuff happens for you you know people see that they try to put you in charge they try to make

sure you're invited they put you on the the text list that happens outside the meetup, you know? They invite you to other events, that kind of thing. That's what happened with the old time jam. I'd show up. I'd practice the tunes. I'd offer to do stuff. I never missed one. That kind of thing. And then you start getting invited to the living room jams and, you know, that kind of thing.

That's how you, like, break in to a group.

You got to go, you got to be eager, you got to be enthusiastic.

Enthusiasmatic about joining or being there.

And then you got to, what was the time frame before you, like, went from, like, like first timer to house jams? Oh, like a year. Oh, really? So you got paid dues, kind of? Yeah, pay your dues, absolutely. And part of it is, but it would be different depending on your skill level too, not that that's the only thing people care about, but like you show up with the JavaScript meetup and you obviously like have some chops and you have some cool projects you're showing. You're probably

a little bit more like immediately integrated than somebody who doesn't, you know? Like you show
