1:30.3	As they hurtle towards me, my first thought is about the terror of my ancestors.
1:36.3	What they must have felt is they were ushered into the bowels of a slave ship.
1:43.3	How they bore witness to the horrors of the Middle Passage
1:48.0	and to the bodies flung to their watery graves
1:52.0	and how the prize of survival was to be sold into misery.
1:58.0	Every year I stand in the brisk waters of the Atlantic, and I crave for an
2:03.6	acknowledgment of what the sea holds for us, the memory of our arduous passing, and the
2:10.6	bodies of those who did not survive it. We don't talk enough about the significance of the Atlantic to African Americans.
