Paul, here's a fun one for you today. It's a bit of a critique, but it comes from a place of love and appreciation. Here it is.

I love all your teaching, but I'm confused about your use of the word gospel everywhere.

Three examples are your marriage book, your parenting book, and your leadership book, they all have the word gospel in the title.

In being very logical, I see the Gospels as the first four books of the Bible and or the good news of Jesus Christ that we share with non-believers and the message they accept to become a Christian.

I actually love this question. I think it's very important to talk about. And there are several things I want to say.

The first thing I want to make very, very clear is that it is true that the core message of the gospel

as presented in Scripture is the bad news of sin and the good news of the redeeming

grace through the righteous life, substitutionary death, victorious resurrection, and royal

ascension of Jesus. That is the core message of the gospel. It is not true that the gospel begins with the four gospels in the Bible or restricted to that.

In fact, the first introduction to the gospel is Genesis 1.

Because in Colossians, we're told,

and in John 1, we're told,

that Jesus, who is at the center of our gospel hope,

is the creator.

You're introduced to your Savior in Genesis 1.

And literally the whole Bible is a biography of Jesus.

I just finished a gospel, a Bible project where one thing I did is I wrote a gospel summary

of every book of the Bible because there's a chord of the gospel, the true gospel, that goes through every book of the Bible.
