Today's mailbag comes to us from Rachel.

Dear Lisa, I am a regular listener of the podcast, and I wanted to share how much the

hospital go-bag idea has made a difference in my life. My mom experienced very high blood

pressure a week ago. I took her to the emergency department, and they ran many tests between

the hours of 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. I felt the strain of not having appropriate

snacks and water or being dressed appropriately as I went to the ED directly from the office.

I recalled the go bag episode and the next day I asked ChatGPT to prepare a list of items I should

pack in a go bag. I grabbed my son's old diaper bag and added all of the things I could

think of that I may need if I had to take her to the ED again. Unfortunately, I had to test the bag a few

days ago when my mom went into atrial fibrillation. This time she was admitted quickly and many of the

comfort items I packed were very useful. I particularly appreciated the travel pillow and blanket I packed,

which allowed me to doze off a few times in the extra long 16-foot phone charger cord.

So many nurses commented on how the bag was such a good idea. I now realize I need to pack a bag

for my mom since I had to run home and grab things for her. The hospital is so helpful, but sometimes you want your own things.

She has since left the hospital and we have many appointments to attend over the next few weeks.
