Mac Power users episode 662. Navigating Apple Maps.

Hello and welcome back to Mac Power users. My name is Steven Hackett and I'm joined as always

by my friend in yours, Mr. David Sparks. Hello, Steven. How are you today?

I'm good, David. How are you? Oh, man, I am great. I'm just great. I don't have to

deal with contractors. I'm in my new space. I think I'm in a honeymoon here again.

I'm just loving it. That's that's awesome. Well, we've got one of our sort of deep dive

episodes this week, getting into Apple Maps. And I think both of us realize there's a lot more

to this application and service than we thought. So a lot of fun putting this together and

looking forward to exploring Apple Maps. Yeah, I like the title Navigating Apple Maps.

Man, that really nails it, right? Yeah, it struck me this weekend as like, that's what we should

call this call it's episode. There's going to be a lot of puns probably. You know, we can't

can help it. Well, let's get from point A to point B.

I really think that Apple Maps has a sorted history. In fact, we're going to talk about that

today and more power users, the troubled launch of Apple Maps because and it's one of those things

where you know, the old rule stands. If you have a bad launch, it is really hard to recover from

that. I mean, there's a lot of good reasons why people don't launch things right away because,

you know, once that perception is out there, it is really hard to get over it. And I was just

talking to a couple non nerd friends recently as we've been kind of prepping the show about

which one do you use? And I'll say, well, you know, they all say Google and I'll say, well,

you know, I heard Apple Maps sucks, you know, and I think that was like a perception and accurate

perception for a while. In fact, like I said, I'm more power users. We're going to go into that.

I want to go through that launch because it, first of all, it's kind of funny and hindsight.
