Dave, when you do reach the All-Star break, it's a natural break point to kind of take a

breath and assess where the team that you're covering is.

The Penguins 27, 11, and 8, just two points out of first place in the Metro Division.

But Carolina, with four games in hand, the Rangers just right above Carolina, but they've played one game more than the Penguins.

All in all, I think through the first part of this season, with all the losses they've

had, man games, a pretty decent spot considering what a lot of people feared at the beginning

of the year.

Yeah, I think if the penguins had been offered their current place in the standings

going into the season and knowing all of the adversity they would face to this point,

I think they would have taken it.
