the pancreas. Excellent. You guys are so smart. So pancreatitis can be acute or it can be chronic and you might see it in

conjunction with some other disorders that are pretty common such as alcoholism, disorders of the billiary tract, and patients

who are taking long-term medications like Gucco corticoids.

In addition to being acute or chronic pancreatitis caused by some of these other disorders,

it can also be considered idiopathic, which basically means it occurs because it occurs,

and we don't really know why. So even though pancreatitis is pretty common

does not mean it's not very serious. The mortality rate for acute pancreatitis is actually 10%.

So that's pretty high and it can lead to some really serious respiratory complications ranging from hypoxia all the way up to ARDS acute
