Hello and welcome. Thanks for tuning in to the League 2 playoff preview pod. We kick it off in a similar vein to League 1 and the championship. We're talking to someone very much involved in League 2 this season, but no longer Matt Bloomfield of Wickham joined us on the phone earlier. He'll be moving up to League 1 next season, but he got a good look at the four teams involved in the playoffs in League 2 this season.

So we discussed that and also some of the celebrations and a look back at Wickham's season.

We're thrilled to be joined by Matt Bloomfield.

Matt, it's obviously been an unbelievable few weeks for the club

and personally for yourself as well.

You've got a goal on final day and the celebrations, I imagine,

have lasted a week or two already by now.

What did it mean for yourself and for Wickham to go up automatically

rather than have to head into a playoff scenario?

Yeah, it was massive for us because, you know, getting up automatically means that you are just that.

It's all done and dusted whereas playoffs, I mean, scoring and winning and going to Wembley and all that must be amazing.

But, you know, it's a bit of a lottery, so there's four teams in it,

who this year are very evenly matched, in my opinion, so we were dead keen against not

entering that kind of situation. That's why we wanted to get the promotion done before the

end of the season. Luckily, we was able to do that. We went to Chesterfield and beat them.

And unbeknown to us during the game that both Exeter and Knox County were losing.

So once it got down to the final sort of 20, 15, 10 minutes, we realized the situation

and we knew we were nearly there.

So it was huge for us.

You know, there's nothing better than getting promoted with your team mates and to be able to then go into the final game of the season with a day to enjoy and a day to cherish your families and the supporters. That was just, you know, it was quite foreign to me really because usually, you know, every game I've played in my career, there's been something riding on it and Saturday there kind of of wasn't, you know, if we'd have lost it, it ended the season on a bit of a low,

but we've got a promotion, and we went out to enjoy the day, so, and then we finished on a high,

which was great.
